CAFES IN THE CENTER AND AFTER HOLIDAY

Old Central Post

will notice that the subject of the photos of today's windows. This for no particular reason, I just like open windows that open onto city views.

Nobody likes Mondays, but I feel a little happier when they see all there is to do this week in Historical Center. As always, before going to events and exhibitions, the first gossip and news. Indeed, the procession was the beatification of John Paul II around the History Center caused a terrible traffic chaos that lasted for hours. Would good that the next time they plan something of this magnitude please publish it in advance. Anyway, just a quejita. NEWS

For those of you still with remnants of the Easter and all its iconography, is on sale Contemplations nice book, History, Art and Culture of the Guatemalan Easter . You can find more information about this publication clicking here.

I tell them that in my wanderings through the Historical Center, I went through Bakabs Space (5th Ave, between 11th and 10th streets) to see the gigantic pinatas that divine are on display. We were amazed. SKIP TO SEE THEM. With or without children. I assure you that super worth it, are divine. And advantage to take a coffee in the place. Is re nice and has parking .

again the beloved son of Historical Center, the recording artist Erick Menchú has been lauded by the media. This year was the winner of the Print Room. You can access the article on him and his work is written in D Magazine of Prensa Libre clicking here (on page 25). Interested in courses Experimental Workshop Graphic can look at the old Central Post Office (7th Avenue and 12 Street), studio 122 in the first level, on Friday and Saturday morning.

know that many, and many of these issues remove you from the wave, but the famous El Buki now cultural forums invited to speak at panel discussions on intellectual property rights and Farnés , despite the conflicts generated by the recent past controversies with Muni and some neighbors Historical Center, also speaks on panels as a special guest and makes projects in collaboration with Alliance and French Cultural Center of Spain .

Moreover, Farnes account that at the request of the Muni installed a special system, at great cost, lest any sound out of bands. So we hope that gradually things are solved. And, behold good: that they are now more conversations between all people and that is the first essential step to be understood. Anyway, before moving on to other topics, read the article on El Buki published in elPeriódico by Susana de Leon, click here .

Quoi de neuf ? What else new? also went to Europe quintet concert in Chantilly The Cathedral and the place was packed full. Great! They are a quintet of wind instruments. People of all ages and condition. I met many acquaintances and everyone loved it. I'm not very wise of classical music or anything, but I noticed they played perfectly, with great harmony. I would I could talk a bit - had to be in English - and were very friendly and cool. Very nice everything.

MORE GOSSIP: There
towers new cafes opened in the Historic Center . Irlos task I leave to know.

1. Pendragon
name straight out of the legends of King Arthur, a beautiful medieval fantasy type coffee, with murals of dark enchanted woods. With roofing parking. I look lovely they are trying to do something different. Visit it! In the 8th Street between 3rd and 4th avenues.

2. NOA
In the 12 street between 5th and 6th avenues, near transcends . A new complex that includes a nice multi-environmental coffee very "trendy" - I tried the hummus is delicious - with the gallery Blue House in the second tier and small bars in every room. NOA, administered by Manu (who just returned to live in Barcelona) is a pretty mural of graffiti that I liked. A treated me well but my other friends told me that the service was too slow. Must be taken into account, however, was the opening day so I'm sure would still have to refine systems. Go visit The House of Blue Hugo Hernandez in the second level, has beautiful products that can not be achieved just like that anywhere else: rings, bags, necklaces, all of contemporary crafts from Mexico and Guatemala.

3. Socrates Café
I have not gone to visit yet, but I get there. (See flyer below)

Chikach (3 Calle 4-24 zone 1). Coffee shop and natural and fair trade products

... and therefore I can not think today any good title for this blog post. Never mind!

I, the truth, I thought that after the crowds and energy that was in the Historic Center during Holy Week, the next week would be all but dead. That wheel would be moving slow, slow, slow ...

It turns out that quite the opposite: It is extremely full of events, as if the whole gang had been eating gallons of Red Bull and are just eager to get back at all that adrenaline culture, art and partying.

anything there. When viewing sipping coffee The Cafetalito , Lion Coffee, Chocolate Coffee or Coffee House (open last 3 Sundays) and then going to a theater either Saturday or Sunday, you can do.

If you want a cold in the historic The Portalito or 100 ports and the famous lentil soup, and then go to a concert or listen to live music at La Luna or Grand Hotel, just . There are many other bars and restaurants that are worthwhile, of course, as the Granada , Mosque, Altuna, Arrival and How Tacos and Tequila . Sometimes the best is going to spend the night talking with friends in Central Bar (the menu is really good) or going to listen to rock and reggae great national Bad Attitude.

Moreover, if you were quebradísimos / as after the holiday, as there are plenty of concerts and events absolutely free, several of which offer parking . For example, there will be a French rock concert The Sixth and one from a German quartet Cathedral, both free. And do not miss all the calls published today here.

Red House. Cultural Centre, Café and Gallery

GOSSIP: the other day I went to lunch at Ciao with my aunt and I was extremely disappointed. We entered and were seated 20 minutes waiting for service accurate, and the waiter and someone who looked like the owner or manager ran from one side to the other people attending and they ignored us completely. Not even came to offer us a menu! 20 Minutes "and they can not offer a menu? Total we stand and we went and leaving the restaurant I noticed that the waiter realized that we were going for the inattention, but do nothing! Tons

... We went to lunch at Imeri, now called C Aida (6 street between 3rd and 4th Avenues), and better . not return to Ciao! The food is good but do not believe that any customer deserves to be ningunear , as they say my students that way.

OTHER GOSSIP: opened a cafe that looks GONE. called Pendragon, and has painted murals and todos como de bosques medievales o góticos, muy interesante.

To contact e-mail can write tallerexperimental@hotmail.com. And for all kinds of crafts, visit the Educentro in Piedra Santa, clicking here. I do not take up your calendar in May.

Well my dear, if ever I find more events this week, I will upload the calendar, so if you have not found anything that catches their attention, there will be more likely to return. However, I seem too weird to not have found something that catches their attention between all that is offered for this week.

why go to get to the malls? There are not going to find all the artistic ferment of chapín Historical Center, where they can come to have fun without spending a dime. Come out and support artists and merchants slippers, from the stores increasingly vitrinezcas and beautiful, to markets, street vendors and El Amate (whose murals were painted by Benvenuto Chavajay ).

And if I do not believe what the artists to the man who gets to play the saxophone on street corners, and the gentlemen who brought the marimba and get to touch, just waiting for a tip as well as the organ of Museum The Invisible Musicians who put on the streets, all joy to the atmosphere with their musical notes. There's nothing like seeing the older couples without inhibitions begin to dance to the rhythm of the marimba ... In

Finally, I like it here and I hope you do too. Have a nice week. And if it is so cute, remember that although not a good day, this is your space love them!

This video introduces you to:
"Surfing the net we find many interesting things about graphic design, one of them Letterpress this video showing the process of this beautiful letterpress printing of a very clear way with elegant approaches.
The letterpress printing is the highlight of a text and / or image that used to reign in the printing industry since the invention of Gutenberg's printing press and the first half of the twentieth century until the advent of offset which will be dethroned by profitable.
As noted, are made with movable type printing pressing them on paper rather thick. It is important to a good search of the proper role and pressure as designed.
Send a letter inked a sole piece getting spectacular results. Unfortunately, today, we are accustomed to the comfortable, absorbed forget the computer trends like this and we can not forget that the crafts will always have a special and unique charm. Therefore, a round of applause for the romantic! "

Letterpress from Naomie Ross on Vimeo .

I've always a soft spot for arts and crafts. I know this design is done with computer almost 100% today, but seeing as they are placed letters, sizes, measurements, inks .. and the end result seems to me the most beautiful thing can be done. In addition, the music played is Nick & Norah's Theme Mark Mothersbaugh, within the OST of the great movie " Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist ."
Anyway, Such, I hope you like much, Laura, what I can tell? BILLION THANKS for the support and I know you a little more in the near future, you're a genius.

"I think an EP very spring, very different songs together, changing, but light weight and noise, where the voices and melodies enrichment are made with great circumspection, where fender gibson beats and keyboards are responsible for decorating the atmosphere so that we remember the beloved 80's. They are songs that relax the mood, help you to be "comfortable" . Ideal for listening sipping a coffee or a nice mid-afternoon gin and tonic while you decide what to do at night. A ep where outsiders lose by 3-2 over nationals, but where most of them choose English as the medium of transport for us to feel "comfortable". "
Thanks Gillespie, you're great.
