Best Camcorder For Your Buck

PUCHIS AH. And WHY ONLY THE SIXTH? The 5th TOO! Chirmole

Balcony View Gallery 9.99 ( Elma Building Penthouse)

Summary that was today: among other things, opening Bakabs Vitrin-Art, concert band, book fair, a procession of Guadalupe, Feria de la Virgen de Guadalupe, a concert of choral music in La Candelaria , concert in La Maga Lucifer.

Dear friends, I want to thank everyone who wrote me letters - some very long (I read them all) - about the previous post on disputes La Sexta.

Unfortunately, I can not do anything to change anyone's policies, whether governments or private enterprise, or I can clarify viewpoints of each employer @ or authorities either. But if you could accomplish more likely if their voices heard / read by the public. Therefore, I encourage you to encourage them to put their views in the comments space on this blog, rather than send them to me via my private.

Today however, there is no dispute on this blog, only new alegrísimas and so fun about the center and especially on a fantastic new space on 5th Avenue and some not so new but well worth visiting and revisiting. So keep reading!

Sculpture José Toledo, "Sculptures Dangerous" on Jack's Place gallery

I just found out, if you're interested, the Lux Cinema will be the new home of the Symphony The City. So for this new cultural life and historic building.

will also tell them that Christmas bazaars from Plaza Barrios and La Calle de Las Letras, to El Amate, safely and awnings to cover the public. The Muni informs us that:

Christmas bazaars in Plaza Barrios and 19 Street in Zone 1, will bring together about 800 vendors who temporarily occupied before the 6th. Avenue during the month of December, because this place can not be occupied by traders of the popular economy. This project will form a shopping promenade that connects the Plaza El Amate the Plaza Barrios, giving buyers the option of a range of products .

So besides The Sixth that traders are certainly very pretty fixing their windows, they have that other great space to go do their holiday shopping. We support our dealers and shops to the popular economy of the Historic Center!

Sculpture José Toledo, "Sculptures Dangerous" in the gallery of Jack's Place
These days

if I had the opportunity to go to cafes and galleries. On Friday I went to see the exhibition of sculptures by the architect José Toledo in garlería of Jack's Place and are interesting. There are a lot of sculpture and I have heard several comments from people if they know of sculpture on that are wrong.

As I am simply ignorant of it, I liked me some things of them, particularly the ingenious way in which recycled parts and industrial machinery. I liked a lot, too, a series of engravings on metal frames. Go see it when passing by!

Tamal in the 100 Doors

However, we did not stay to eat at Jack's Place that much noise and you can not talk. Music too loud to talk and not enough to dance, in my opinion. Although the other night had a very good band, but that's another thing. Best

went to The 100 Doors and had a great time, always good food, friendly, comfortable and informal, and this time asked the famous lentil soup but the tamale special Christmas was big and tasty. My only complaint of the 100 doors is the bathroom, but other than that, I have no complaints and always recommend it.

Songwriter Alejandro Bernardo Arriaza and photographer Euler

Following the theme of modern art in the evening, we went to the opening of the new display 9.99 Gallery Building penthouse in Elma. As always, interesting people, interesting work and a spectacular view of the historic center to the outskirts of the city.

Indeed, there was Alejandro Aguirre, whose highly praised Antronauta CD is on sale in Casa de Cervantes and Libraries Sophos. They already have Christmas gift idea and be re bien! I, for example, this week I'll buy it for my next purrún. Great music. And of course, do not miss the concert Unplugged Alejandro Aguirre this week (see the billboard).

Artwork Patrick Hamilton, 9.99 Gallery, Pencil drawing gold

9.99 In Gallery are works by Benvenuto Chavajay , Patrick Hamilton (a very intriguing story behind his work!) and video Sandra Monterroso. I honestly Monterroso's video did not get the picture. It would be good a explicacioncita as that given to the work of Hamilton, because as you know the story behind the works, a can appreciate the more.

Bakabs Space Entry (5th Ave 10-53 Z-1, with parking)

What it is that all the trouble in the sixth when there are many things happening in other neighborhoods and avenues of the Historic Center. So

them I have a big announcement another area of the zone.

There is a new space - relatively new - in the Historic Center : Bakabs Space. I went to meet for the opening of the exhibition of artists from Vitrin-Art, and I loved the concept. LOVED ME .

Exhibition Space Bakabs

The idea is pretty cool. It's a huge two-story space, which includes retail space craft modern art gallery space, café, sale and exhibition of furniture and designer clothes. And if they had not said, is parking itself at par.

Bakabs Space

I tell them that if I win the lottery I want to buy the painting by the artist Juan Thought you see in the picture above to put behind my bed bedside manner.

I love all the symbolism. Dice "Frankly, my dear, I do not care." not like but I only want it for every time my husband claim me for everything I do (which I admit is a lot do not do) I just pointed at the picture above the bed and I keep reading and eating chocolates ...

Luis Aguilar, manager of Space Bakabs

The driving motor Bakabs addition to the artisans and artists, is Luis Aguilar . Aguilar is a very persistent entrepreneur who has been quite some time to gamble and put him forward to Historical Center. Their pitch is the development and support of community artisans and artists, so I recommend that if you are early, to communicate with him to discuss his ideas, and if not, visit the room to meet him.

Bakabs Space Café

can buy coffee, snacks and wine in your wonderful coffee, so enjoy it surrounded by interesting art and craft, in a very bright and pleasant space. For sample, see the photos below ... notice how every corner has a special creative detail.

Bakabs Space Café

Luis Aguilar tells me they will additionally provide a stage for dance and theater soon and that on the second floor will offer workshops organizational business and also is to rent for events which also provide coffee breaks and lunch.

I would suggest to add books and music for sale too. Talves already going to get.

Bakabs Space

In the photo above you can appreciate the area of selling craft items, which are modern versions of traditional crafts. They are beautiful but yet so if you see anything unusual. It's a nice place to buy a necklace or scarf.

Exhibition space
Bakabs

The photo above is a detail of one of the exhibits that were in Vitrin-Art of The Sixth and are now in Bakabs. And I think this is a perfect place for them, large and modern. I am told that for many years were different banks that were there, then a pool and then was empty for years. Hopefully, the building finally found the kind of life that fits you best: Art and Culture.

Exhbición, Space Bakabs

The photo above shows an ingenious way to transform swatter and other equipment plastic humorous artwork. There is also a picture of a facility that includes a plastic muñecón about pigs, but that it was not very good. The facility is nice, I suggest you spend watching.

sale of clothing, Bakabs

clothing is on sale I liked, but still being installed and I could not see prices. As I explained, the designer makes the clothes herself and painted by hand, so each piece is unique. The concept comes to me.

Bakabs Clothing Sale

Obviously, as you can see above, was not only to me the only one who liked the clothes. I'll have to spend another day without the mariachi slowly and not go to control as much as I spend my blouse in a hand painted ...

Furniture Exhibition, Space Bakabs

These above are the next pieces that I buy when I win the lottery ( and grouper, grouper and ). The painting is done on canvas and as you can see, is the chair down, also painted by hand. That's where I sit to read, wearing my shirt hand-painted to blend.

Area
Bakabs
not all the names of the artists exhibiting in Bakabs right now, but include Eny Roland, André Gribble , Juan Thought and many other young Guatemalan contemporary authors . I recommend you go see his work not only to support and admire all that is being designed and produced in Guatemala, but because they are a great source of inspiration and ideas.

There are many more works and things to do - furniture, clothing, photography, accessories - are worth, than I can list here. Go! Like I said, there own parking and entrance is free . Also, for more on Vitrin-Art visit AndreGribble.Blogspot.com .

Bakabs Space

Bakabs
After, we walked a little further Restaurante Altuna, a English restaurant in an old mansion that has been decades in the same place. Do you know what I mean?

As always full of people of all ages, especially those who want to see the English team's match of the day. There we find a professional world known also as usual. And as always, either way, but what else is there that ask for a beer and paella?

Altuna Paella

case you do not know, paella there Q.60 costs as the dish, which I find very cheap and a thousand times better than to eat at McDonalds. In my still amazes me how expensive it is fast food here. So without even going through the sixth day, nor the chumules of people at Central Plaza, yet we spent a most pleasant Sunday in Historical Center and Bypassing The 5th Avenue.

Elder dancing with the marimba

That sheath is closed on Sundays two Lion Café and Cervantes House, because if we just want a coffee and go to mater in one afternoon talking. But no way!

Upon returning home we saw the crowds at the feast of the Virgin of Guadalupe , as did the 8th Street pedestrian for that celebration. Too much sun and too many people for my taste so if I was 5 mins long, but I'm going to comapartirles contagious joy and awesome old man who was dancing to the marimba with an energy that already the envy many Patojos.

And now if, let to the events of the week. I warn you APRAT processions, inns and choral concerts everywhere, there are many organized by the holiday season, and it is alegrísimo come as walking, eating, shopping and all Historical Center so come on .

5month Old Son Has A Really Bad Cough

Thanatos THE VINE AND LOTS

Opening of the Sixth
Yolanda

chirmole Lots of gossip and these days, but even so, it's worth come to the facility. All this means that Historical Center, and its renewal, is in the public eye more than ever.

But before you go: Young, if you go by car, p ónganle locked the door and raise their glasses . Today I saw as I opened the door to his SUV to a young women and tried to take off. Fortunately for her, came running several students and offenders were frightened and ran. I think what saved her is that he began to give such screams drew the attention of everyone. Anyway, I had closed the door with a lock obviously something that is a sensible precaution today.

Anyway, back to gossip.

Yes, a lot of controversy these days and What are we here but to airearlas with all the good and bad ? So here's what keep ventilating conflicting fashion show Saul Mendez, Vintage Fashion Tour at La Sexta and their impact; show yourself in El Cerrito del Carmen, and the Opening of The Sixth , among other things.

And again, trying to see what good and bad, because criticism just to criticize, not worth it. By the way, if you missed the fantastic show Saul Mendez company that had no invitation, I put the video at the end.

The Portalito, Inauguration of the Sixth

First Controversy.

begin at the Vintage Fashion Tour event of the company Saul Mendez held in The Sixth late last November. If you want to see good pictures of fashion in the same, visit the blog From Guatemala With Love . This talented young man has a good eye and seemed born to be a fashion photographer. I like your work. I was on a trip, so I missed all this.

Returning to the event. No one denies that the event was magnificent , or that larger companies are welcome to food, drink and fashion come to bet the historic center. I think it's great that incorporated, for example, people of different ages and Break Dance artists.

However, there were many actions that gave rise to negative public reactions. For example,

Children's Choir of the Municipality, Opening of the Sixth

people could only enter by invitation . Since The Sixth is a public road that has developed within a framework of democracy and contributing to the community, for others it seems unacceptable to that philosophy.

is very different, for example, when doing a concert in the Plaza of the Constitution or a park, they do not close the road traffic and whoever can get their entry paid.

In this event, however, closed a pedestrian that advertises itself as a democratic event and public space and also could only enter by invitation people mostly tell me, were of media or in general, NO were neighbors of the center and people who frequent.

Jack's Place, Opening of the Sixth

addition, there were rumors - I am not aware, but I understand that one of the ways has come to ask - that the company filed for Traders Trade Portal to close their companies before 6 pm to evacuate.

do not know how true this is, but if true it was in this way, it would seem from an arrogance so great that it seems inconceivable to any modern company that cares about its image in the community. And if not true, as the rumor shows the image the company is generating Saul Mendez in the large and varied downtown community.

La Sexta, Opening of the Sixth

In conclusion, all companies that want to come to bet the center should be welcomed. The commercial development of the area depends on a good mix of shops and people. Much of his long-term success depends, as is, the way they handle public relations.

Sadly, some of the company's shares do not seem to be Saul Mendez made a good start, nor was his event enjoyed by a good variety of people from the community.

Despite good thing was, and is put Historical Center on the map for a large number of people who probably had never come to Historical Center. Also, put it in front of the media in a positive way. And this last factor, say what you say, was positive.

... remember that much of a cultural heritage, is the people and communities that traditionally inhabit and use their spaces .

So much so negative publicity generated by the privatization of the street that day, however, had a talk last night at The Grand Hotel the Historic Center We ALL entitled to La Sexta ... . remodeling plans are Sixth Avenue and the historic center for all?? which was moderated by Kunty Shaw and with the participation of the sociologist and anthropologist Bernardo Euler Denisse Phe Funchal. It seems that this discussion group, born of a formal document.

productive thing about this is that these conversations are taking place in public space. These things must be discussed. Some comments on a YouTube discussion forum are the following (There are many other comments, but these are more or less illustrative of the different points of view. It is something that is discussed in bars cafes and streets of the historic center ):

these people have interesting $ e $ well padded and municipal use POT repartise cake pa ... There is nothing wrong with improving the ornament, on the contrary, is excellent, but behind it is a hidden agenda, if d prq kisieran really improve the Historic Center, which would make the neighbors including

Public space can be privatized, and q that does not mean a guy come to buy 80mts. d street, that means q restricted access, business opportunities or residential space

q I am aware the corrupt politicians have made the country, but a street cleaning and fix is not bad, you can see the cultural heritage and art is now appreciated ...

I did not know if you can privatize a street, thanks for the clarification ... I hope not privatize the street porq aunq do not think if you go to the 6th now what you see is poor people ...

Controversy II.

had been approved, it seems, in the context of this event, the exhibition of the photographer Eny Roland, among others, and then were to be removed by someone at City Hall decided that the format was "a mockery of the City."

art is interpretative and as could be seen as a joke, could be seen as an ironic comment on society, could be seen as an underhanded compliment, or as a historical reconstruction in order Who determines these meanings? "And when have NO art should be to comment on social realities? I think it was worse for the City public relations that share, to be allowed free expression of ideas through art.

is important to bear in mind, however, that the municipal government has many departments, and not all necessarily have the same views and the same interests.

As anyone could authorize any other entity in the same institution may have come to take it apart. Misunderstandings occur. We forget that some departments of The Muni has done many positive things, so that's focus on the good and try to find solutions to what is not good.

With respect to this dispute can read the article written by Marcela Gereda of elPeriódico entitled Vintage City and the Privatization of Public Space , clicking here.

What has been good?

lot!

Of the things that I have attended, I liked the show yourself (course) and the launch of The Sixth definitely very good and well-organized. Something terrible happening today excellence in Historical Center is the art exhibition Guatemalan Hip Hop Ex-Centric in . The latter is the super recommend.

Very interesting is also the exhibition of contemporary art projects Colombian UV. Another very successful event was the exhibition "Art Vitrin and parts can be seen today in Bakabs (see events).

public exposure Vitrin-Art, a collective effort, we comment on the blog Shut It André and can be visited, as I said, new space Bakabs (5th Ave 10 - 53 Z. 1). We add, moreover, a video (below) on the exhibition.

I went to the opening of the Sixth and really enjoyed the shows. "Mind" Christmas tree if I am just "chama", but then, in taste genres are broken. Would make traditional events in the Historic Center, such as inns, fill pine, cantatas and other Guatemalan history, as Santa Clauses and fawn I think we're saturated Do not you think? Our traditions have much slippers to offer.

Third Controversy

Well, if that has caused controversy that show yourself no longer take place in El Cerrito del Carmen . The farewell show yourself on his blog can be read by clicking here . Among the commentators of the case are the Green Blog and Fellin.

Personally, I admire the great work of recovering the Teoxché Cerrito del Carmen, but I worry that this confict standing again for those who "own" the public space.

show yourself has a long - many! - Year bet on Historical Center and Guatemalan artists of all kinds. His festival in Cerrito del Carmen has become a cultural and historical landmark. Attracts people of all ages, tastes, and income levels. It's a great pity that the combination of this place and this festival is no longer going to give more.
